Module 4: Voluntary Self-exclusion

The Gambling & Recovery Podcast Science Accelerator Course consists of 6, 1-hour continuing education (CE) modules designed to provide evidence-based and lived-experience insight into the experience of gambling-related problems. In each module, learners will review scientific research related to gambling and listen to a recent After Gambling Podcast episode where host Jamie Salsburg and special guest Mark Checkwicz will discuss their understanding of the scientific findings in light of their own lived experience. Learners can earn 1.0 hour of CE credit per module.

Module 4 focuses on voluntary self-exclusion.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of completing this module, you will be better prepared to:

Describe the effectiveness of self-exclusion programs for alleviating gambling-related problems and mental health conditions.
Describe the role of psychotherapy and other clinical and social supports in self-exclusion-guided recovery.
Explain the current barriers to self-exclusion, as evidenced by gamblers who have engaged in self-exclusion and the actors closely involved with the program.

Continuing Education (CE) Credits:

American Psychological Association (APA) – The Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) – The Division on Addiction has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6121. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Division on Addiction is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. This program offers 1.0 clock hours.
NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals – The Division on Addiction is a NAADAC Approved Distance Learning Provider (provider number 84058).
