The Gambling & Recovery Podcast Science Accelerator Course consists of 3, 1-hour continuing education (CE) modules designed to provide evidence-based and lived-experience insight into the experience of gambling-related problems. In each module, learners will listen to a recent After Gambling Podcast episode hosted by Jamie Salsburg, with special guest Mark Checkwicz, followed by a discussion of related research. Learners can earn 1.0 hour of CE credit per module.

Module 3 focuses on the impact of gambling on experiences and people.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of completing this module, you will be better prepared to:

  • Describe how problem gambling relates to other experiences and conditions.
  • Explain the effect of gambling problems on loved ones.
  • Identify ways to provide support to affected others.
  • Identify ways to support gamblers in their recovery journey.

Continuing Education (CE) Credits:

  • American Psychological Association (APA) – The Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance maintains responsibility for this program and its content. 
  • National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) – The Division on Addiction has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6121. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Division on Addiction is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. This program offers 1.0 clock hours.
  • NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals – This course has been approved by the Division on Addiction, as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #84058, the Division on Addiction is responsible for all aspects of the programing.
  • National Association of Social Workers (NASW) –This program has been approved for 1.0 Social Work Continuing Education hours for relicensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. NASW-MA Chapter CE Approving Program, Authorization Number D10082.
